Ingredient Spotlight: Turmeric

Turmeric is something I feel everyone should embrace. It’s so easy to sneak this beautiful yellow powder into foods that you cook every day. I love adding it to spaghetti sauce, lentils, and of course rice, but it blends well with almost any savory dish. I won’t go over all the amazing benefits of this spice for your body, but I’d like to mention some of the wonderful things it can do for your skin.

Turmeric is excellent at correcting skin pigmentation problems, especially when combined with lemon. You’ll find that both The Beet Generation Dry Face Mask and my new Lighten Up Dry Face Masks bring these two great allies together. The Beet Generation is much more concentrated and does not contain the moisturizing effect of the coconut milk powder in Lighten Up. Whichever you prefer, you’re covered.

Turmeric is an ideal choice for acne prone skin due its ability to reduce the production of sebum. It also has antiseptic and antibacterial properties, and the ability to clear acne scars, making it a top pick for problem skin.

Do you use this gorgeous root? We love it!
