Van Gogh

During his entire life, Vincent Van Gogh sold exactly one painting, “Red Vineyard at Arles”.

Random Facts

The month of December is a busy time for me and probably for you too. So for the rest of the year, please come by here and grab a random fact. I might even stop by with a diy beauty recipe every once in a while. Let’s get started… Enjoy!

The “pound” key on your keyboard (#) is called an octotroph.

Cleaning tip

I noticed that the hose on the removable shower head looked long enough to reach the toilet. Of course I felt compelled to try and clean the toilet with the jet spray setting. Well, it worked, but I also learned: never sneeze while aiming a jet sprayer at your toilet. Unless you like cleaning up a lot of water, then this is for you.

Proud

Watching the Fresh Beat Band one day and my 6 year old said, “Mom, I think the guy in the dark shirt is the Jimmy Eat World leader.” Sniffle… these are some of my proudest moments.

Don’t Worry

Me: Don’t worry if you lose a tooth after it comes out. The tooth fairy will know it’s out there somewhere and she’ll come.

6yo: Well, since she’s so small I guess if I swallow it she can climb in my ear and find it. *thoughtful pause* But she’ll need to take a shower when she gets home.

Skip counting

My 6 year old loves math and numbers. She especially loves skip counting in various patterns. Tonight when I was putting her to bed…

6yo: Mom, will you skip count odd numbers to 100?

Me: Sure. 1, 3, 5 (etc.).

6yo: Good job. Now by 3’s to 100.

Me: Ok. 3,6,9 (etc.).

6yo: Wow. Really good. Now by 5’s to a billion.

Me: What?!

6yo: Ok, fine, by 6’s. That’ll be faster.

More Cat Stories

Do I talk about my cats too much? No? Ok, if you insist, here’s another cat story…

When my cat got her teeth cleaned, I decided to pick her up right away, before she was totally awake from the anesthesia. If you find yourself in my shoes, don’t do that. Just let the cat stay at the vet as long as you can. I came home and as soon as I let her out of the carrier, she fell on her face while trying to walk. Then she started trying to push out through the cat door, but she was missing and hitting her head over and over. I didn’t want her to go out because I was afraid she’d fall in the pool, but I figured she might have to go and in her condition, I felt the yard might be a better option than an automated litter box, so I helped her out and went outside with her to supervise. She started heading for her spot, which is in the back of the yard at the bottom of a big slope. As soon as she started going down the slope, she disappeared from sight and all I saw were these four brown paws go up in the air. And they just stayed there. She was back to normal soon, but I’ll never regret not filming anything more than that.
